Indian Rope Trick?
It seems that Liftport, the space elevator company, is running into some serious trouble - which bodes ill for both efforts to build a beanstalk, and for friend of the Ministry Brian. Here's hoping that they get it together. I want to ride a train to space.

Don't worry about me so much.
Don't worry about me so much. LiftPort has never been able to afford to pay me so I've never given up the day job. Granted there is a metric ton of work I've put into it that can't be recovered but .. I knew going in it this could happen.
And hey - I've learned a bit that I would not otherwise have, which is worth something.
And ya - I still want a ride to orbit at one gee on a vertical railroad car.
