I hate long goodbyes

The last episode of the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" universe of shows (okay, two shows, "Buffy" and "Angel") ended last night with the series finale of "Angel."

Not afraid to say I got a little teary watching the end of a saga I've enjoyed for eight full years. "Buffy" was one of the best shows on TV for most of its run (the last season was spotty), and "Angel" was just getting great again after a rough last season, which of course was a perfect time for the WB to cancel it. F**kers. And Joss Whedon ended the series with a Butch & Sundance cliffhanger.

Tacitus has an "Angel" open thread if you're feeling nostalgic (or curious).

J,
OK that's twice in two days you've mentioned an entertainment source making you weepy. Are you spending to much time in that genteel, progressive utopia-on-Charles?

I don't know whether to applaud you as you own your feelings in this safe space, or to just call you a sally.

At the very least, as an experiment, how about choking down a rare burger, then coming at this topic again?

Johno, I feel for you. I was weepy during the finale of Buffy. I lost interest in Angel after the first year. Heh, I didn't even known that Cordelia was no longer on the show. Was hoping for an Angel/Buffy reunion. Oh well, at least we've got reruns on FX and TNT.

You can call me a Sally if you'd like. It had occurred to me that copping to tearing up twice in twenty-four hours was a risk from a manliness/studlitude point of view.

I actually cry very rarely, because I have a pretty good life here mostly devoid of pathos or tragedy.

I assure you it's coincidence that twice in two days, an entertainment source got me all misty.

Tomorrow night is Friday night, and Friday night is rare burger night.

Sally,

Showing your vulnerability and softer side is quite attractive. Men, in general, get too caught up trying to be too strong or macho.

Ming-Syu, while that is undoubtedly true (otherwise I'd never have had a date in my life), my wife is also very happy that for the last five months I've been hitting the freeweights.

J,
I wish I had a screenshot of Jimmy rr-rr--rrii---rrri---ripped.
