An exploration vehicle like this would vastly expand our ability to explore Mars. Rather than being limited to a very small area near the landing site, we would be able to cover hundreds of square miles at close range. A very cool thing, indeed.

The guys at Aurora do some amazing work, including parts of the Predator UAV and extreme high altitude craft for NASA and the weather service.

The owners daughter was the Junior National Champion in contest rocketry a few years ago. She built a scale Soviet N-1 that was incredible. It runs in the family.

It was only about 3 feet tall. But no, it flew exactly like the original, falling apart in mid-flight. An hour and lord-knows-how-much superglue later, a second, marginally successful flight was made. Good enough to win, but a beautiful model was destroyed.
