World Series Hype

Does anyone know or care who is winning the world series?

While it has not captured my complete attention, I have watched at least three complete innings of every game (with the exception of tuesday night because I went out to the movies.)

The ratings are up for baseball, but something about the series has gone unnoticed: the crowds are quieter and less dynamic than last year. Since my team was finally in the world series (and subsequently won it) I taped most of the games. Everyone noted then how unusually loud the Anaheim crowds were. However, my tapes seem to show that the SF crowds were much more expressive as well. The Maimi and NY crowds are on life support, coming to life only for the big hits (perhaps Jeb should use his short-term powers to resuscitate the fans.) Last night I kept thinking, "Your team is kicking Yankee @$$!!! Why are you so sedate?"

If it were any other team (well, except for the Braves, I would cheer them on, because kicking Yankee ass is a very good thing. I haven't watched a single inning of any game.

The Yankee fans are blase about the whole world series experience. They have, after all, won nearly all of them. They do not deserve a team that good.

I can't offer an explanation for the Marlins fans. Maybe they're all on drugs.

I am happy for you that your team has won the World Series. Perhaps Johno and I will experience that in our lifetimes. Maybe.

Actually, according to ESPN is was the third lowest rated series in history. Neener neener.
