Precipitous fall from a not very great height
British rocker Gary Glitter has been charged with child molestation in Vietnam. This follows being banned from Cambodia after child rights activists put his name on an entry blacklist, a brief stay in Cuba, and leaving Britain after convicted of possessing over 4000 pornographic images of children on his computer.
Kinda sad when even third world countries with a penchant for brutality won't put up with your antics.

Isn't it common, or at least
Isn't it common, or at least fairly likely, to find prostitutes in the 14-and-under category in the south Pacific?
At what point is it no longer criminal to have sex with children?
Makes you wonder what else this cat is up to to piss off the locals so thoroughly.
The picture I saw of him
The picture I saw of him being marched to jail (from the airport, as he was attempting to flee, if memory serves) was instructive.
All the earlier pictures of him relative to this story were his 1970s persona. This one? "Gary Glitter as Dirty Old Perve". Which makes sense, as that's what he appears to be.
He's got to have done something pretty foul to have gotten arrested in Vietnam, methinks.
Unless, perhaps, Mr. Glitter
Unless, perhaps, Mr. Glitter is really a daring agent of British Intelligence, attempting to subvert the communist government of Vietnam. The Vietnamese pegged to his meddling, but didn't have evidence enough to parade him as an unmasked spy. So, they ginned up some child molestation charges, and paid ten pubescent peasant girls to say that 'Ol Gary was schtuping them.
That could be it.
