Hey! He Didn't Lie!
Looks like the Bush AWOL story can finally be put to bed as untrue. Fine with me: I'm more concerned with the present.

Not to discount the meaning
Not to discount the meaning of this story, but has anyone remembered serving with Bush? Usually the children of big-wigs stand out and are thus memorable. That and he was supposed to be a pilot ... there should be more than just pay stubs. As former Rep. Dan Rostenkowski might have said from his prison cell, just because a person got a government paycheck it doesn't mean he ever showed up at the job site.
There's several stories now
There's several stories now floating around recounting interviews with people who do remember serving with him. The Boston Globe has a few. The thing to remember, as several of the military bloggers have pointed out - is that in a reserve unit of over 800 people, they wouldn't see everyone in the unit seeing as people serve one weekend a month, and not necessarily the same weekend.
And by all accounts, Bush didn't go around intruducing himself as the son of a congressman.
GP, that was my original
GP, that was my original contention too, that payroll proves nothing. But the stuff that's come out in the last few days has persuaded me that there's not much to this story. It doesn't have the Mighty Wurlitzer feel to it, that Rove stink it would have otherwise. Or so it seems to me.

I love these full press dialogues...the press really does beat up on these guys (and has in previous administrations too). We just never get to see this kind of thing on the air. Too bad!
Yes or no, Scott?
