Fox Hopes Fiancé Delivers Big Fat Win

This show is what they're basing their hopes on? Gimme a break! Idiots! Arggh!

Fox had one of the best shows in memory in their stable in 2002 -- the vastly underappreciated "Firefly". Having purchased the DVDs and finally watched the episodes in order, I can say that this show would have been their season. Dumb-asses!

I have been busy writing a screenplay for a dead show, over the past few days. It's a boatload of fun.

Die Fox, Die!

Ross, I actually think the Fiance show looks kind of funny. I have no problem with bottom-feeding at times (I really enjoy Survivor, and watch "The Simple Life" when the wife isn't around).

How is Fox's new line-up any better or worse than its 1988 offerings, such as "Babes," "Get a Life," and "Married With Children"? Ok, ok ok ok ok, MWC is one of the greatest shows of all times, and "Get A Life" was the brainchild of Chris Elliott, ok. But I stand by my question.

It's not whether it's better or worse than before...the question is, is there anything worth watching?

Firefly is really the only show I've seen in a long time that's worthwhile. West Wing has thoroughly jumped the shark.

In other words, it's all crap. The public has an appetite for well-written shows with long story arcs, good characters, and intelligent dialog. X-Files had a good run...West Wing, Buffy, Friends (at least some of the time).

You don't watch saying to yourself, "I wonder what wacky and simplistic new situations the characters are going to find themselves in this week, which will be utterly unrelated to anything else that's ever happened before or will happen again?". With shows that are worth watching, you see evolution. You have short-term stimulus and long-term interest at the same time...

It's the soap opera magnetism, wrapped in something more general...

Ross, I can dig it. Since Buffy went off the air, and since they moved Third Watch to Fridays, it's been slim pickings. I'm a big fan of Scrubs and Gilmore Girls (so underrated! so well written!), as well as Monk and some of the cable reality stuff like American Chopper and Alton Brown's Good Eats.

That's what... six shows? And yet I watch TV almost every night of the week. Sad.

Oh, I did!
