Ross is right-- it's a great post, and some great discussion attached to it as well.
Somehow, the intelligent, liberal-minded people of the world need to take control of the big bus of liberalism before the nutsos pull a Thelma and Louise.

I would like to agree with
I would like to agree with you on this definition so much--I think that it is the ideal definition. But I think that another definition is emerging within the context of the current political campaign. It seems that there are people who would equate liberalism with popularism. Candidates are rating each other on the degrees of their liberalism even though they largely believe in the same issues. Furthermore, there is the outside, Karl Rove demonizing definition which equates liberal with pandering and particularism. I would like to be the liberal that you want to be as well, but others may not see me that way.
