Give things to me, because I need them
If anyone is looking to spend $500 on a worthy cause, I think one of these would make an excellent Christmas gift for, for example, me.

Wait a few months, when Palm comes out with their WindowsCE version. LOL
I'm kinda surprised that
I'm kinda surprised that Apple hasn't attempted to do this again. Given the power of the new chips and the storage available, I would think that Apple's genius for interface design would be a great match for this sort of device.
They made sure that windows users could use the iPod, a smart move, and a similar effort with a manager/palm type device could bring in lots of people who dig the iPod but never bought a palm.
