Man from the future?
Loyal reader Mapgirl sends us this link about a man from the future, who until recently was posting on the internet. Apparently, he predicts a red v. blue civil war starting in the next year or so, culminating in a nuclear exchange initiated by Russian in 2015. Also, Bush is instituting a police state that will contribute to the civil war, and soon we will have a Waco-style incident almost every month.
He was sent into the past to get a IBM computer from 1975 to solve a Y2K type problem for when UNIX computers run out of numbers in 2038. He stopped off here because of his abiding interest in late period American cultural history.
We report, you decide.

Mapgirl you are the puppy's
Mapgirl you are the puppy's nuts!
I haven't read anything that fun, or sustained my interest for that long, in quite awhile. I guess I dig a good time-travel conspiracy story.
While it does seem to feed into more classic scifi such as modern civil wars (the mention of Waco might be a dead giveaway of conspiracy folks), alternate worlds (http://www.ahtg.net/alterframe.html), and time travelling sports cars, the novelty of using web sources as narrative- such as chat room transcripts- made the whole effort alot of fun. It was also nice to be spared more mysterious conspiracies involving Nazi UFOs piloted by Masons, etc. Fun as those can be, they were a welcome omission here.
Thanks.
The Right's recent love
The Right's recent love affair with non-empiricism has firmly pushed me into the state's rights camp. The only way we're really going to defend ourselves against right-wing bullshit is to live separately. Have fun screwing up the red states even more, Republicans!
We need to reduce the size of the federal government and push the functions to the state level. Of course, citizens would then have to start paying attention to state politics, but that's their problem.
Non-empiricism? I don't know
Non-empiricism? I don't know what you mean by that, but the vast right wing conspiracy welcomes you to our big tent of Federalism and limited government. Let a thousand flowers bloom!
