Big time, just around the corner

My wife's band, Dead Men's Hollow, is going from success to success. Tomorrow, they are playing a free concert on the Millenium Stage at the prestigious Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (right by the Watergate Hotel in our nation's capital.) And today, I learn that they have been nominated for no less than six Washington Area Music Awards from the Washington Area Music Association.

DMH is up for the following Wammies:

  • Bluegrass Group
  • Bluegrass Recording (for their CD "Forever True")
  • New Artist of the Year
  • Album of the Year (for "Forever True")
  • Debut Recording of the Year (for "Forever True")
  • Best Recording Design (for Marcy Cochran, who designed the art for "Forever True")

You can hear their music by following the link above and clicking on "Music." They've got some free downloads, just for you.

I can't say how proud I am. Despite many obstacles, and even harassment, they are moving up in the world at a steady and relentless pace. Their music gets better everyday, so listen now and you'll be able to say, "I knew them before they kicked the Dixie Chicks clear out of country music."

Oh, I forgot to say it this morning, so here goes:

Holy fucking shit!!!!

I knew Miz B when she was playing bass clarinet in the college concert band and wearing denim skirts 24/7!! Never did I think she would become a bluegrass songwriter and singer with one of the clearest, high-lonesomest voices this side of Dolly Parton! (Except lower and stronger and richer!)

This is the greatest achievement by any friend of mine ever, and I couldn't be prouder of Miz B, the band, or Buckethead. "Forever True," by the way, is a kickass album. And judging by the single I heard recently, their second album is going to eclipse the first one like... uh... like a... like an aircraft carrier eclipsing a battleship.

Man... The Ministry always puts me in war mode. Must be the company.
