The natural disaster is over
Late last night, power was finally restored to the Buckethead Mansion in Lower Alexandria. The linemen, a team from Georgia, were highly competent and helpful, even fixing some problems left by the electrician who "upgraded" the electrical system in the house. Thanks to Lowell and Champ and their team good work. Hopefully, they will be able to take a break and see their families soon.
And keep in your thoughts the linemen have died in the process of restoring power to the states hit by Isabel.

Question: How did you manage
Question: How did you manage to feed and bathe a five-month-old in a house with no power?
I mean, I know it's _possible_, given the 99% of human history lived without the benefit of hot water or electricity, but, damn.
Welcome back to the modern era.
We lost electricity, but not
We lost electricity, but not gas or water. Though there was a water advisory, we were able to boil water thanks to the gas. The water heater still worked, so we had water for showers and baths.
Sir John-the-I-am-not-dependent-on-anything-but-mom is breastfed, so lack of refridgeration for formula and what have you was not an issue. Keeping us fed was more of a problem. Of all the things to lose, the fridge is the most painful. Can't keep food more than hours without it.
After five full days without power, I have a deep and abiding love for the fruits of technological progress. I will kill the next Luddite I meet, just on principle.
