which is of course, at the bottom of the ocean.

Go here, and be appalled. I won't actually put this on my webpage. But when some people complain that certain other people are questioning their patriotism, then this might be the reason why.

Well, for starters, the entire membership of moveon.org, its supporters and contributors, and similar organizations.

3

Buckethead, do Emperor Misha's periodic [em]fatwas[/em] against his "enemies" fairly represent the views of the broader conservative movement?

4

According to Buckethead-logic, the next time some right-wing racist dipshit dumps something on a community site, I get to call the whole right wing racist! Cool.

Or maybe that's not quite how the whole thing works.

5

Moveon.org, the sponsor of at least two Bush=Hitler ads, is sadly not on the fringe. It has prominent sponsors within the party and it has not been repudiated by the party leadership. When people like Trent Lott do things even half as offensive, they are removed from Senate leadership. I constantly run into people who blithly make "radical" statements about conservatives that are almost as bad as that picture, people who otherwise seem fairly normal. People who are then shocked when I object.

I have no problem with liberals who disagree with me on matters of policy. As you all know. But this kind of thing is far more common and pervasive on the left than I think either of you are willing to admit.

When I see prominent democrats (like presidential candidates, for starters) begin to publicly reject this kind of thing the way conservative leaders reject the "right-wing racist dipshits", then I will breathe easier and make a few less blanket generalizations about the left.

6

Can we call the morons who do this kind of thing "leftists" to distinguish them from the thinking types?

But, Buckethead, if you have a point about the Democrats needing to loudly and publicily disavow this crap (and you do), it's also true that Trent Lott is the [em]only[/em] Republican in high places to pay the price for similarly extreme views so far.

7

I do call them leftists. And the Democratic party is pandering to them in a very big way. Dean is only the most prominent example.

If Lott is the only one on the right, that makes it one more than on the left. Not one democrat has paid the price for equivalent or far worse offenses, including Al Sharpton and everyone who appears on a stage with him.
