The Economy-- Damn!

Wow. Just wow.

U.S. economic growth surged in the third quarter of 2003 to the fastest pace in nearly two decades, the government said Thursday, in a report that was much stronger than most economists expected.

Gross domestic product (GDP), the broadest measure of economic activity, grew at a 7.2 percent annual rate in the quarter after growing at a 3.3 percent rate in the second quarter, the Commerce Department reported. Economists, on average, expected GDP growth of 6 percent, according to Briefing.com.

Hey, that's great news.

Now, could I see a little of that magic, please?

I ripped out a pretty big "YES" in my car on the way in this morning...It's fantastic news. Let's hope some of the groundswell pushes over into the job market too. I know a lot of people who are hurting.

It would ALSO be nice if the next three quarters kept this up, so that this annual rate of 7.2 percent becomes an actual annual rate of 7.2 percent. That would be effing crazy.

Johno, were you aware that I posted on this today? Not that it doesn't deserve emphasis. Recessions aren't forever. I find it mildly ironic that the hard core conservative on this little endeavor is the optimist.

Yeah, I started my post, went away to do actual "work", came back, and posted it. In the interim, yours.

Sorry about that-- I don't mean to steal your considerable thunder.
